“Gratefully Aware”

This piece is an authentic Nigerian work of art created by Otuu Ogobuchi Idam. Otuu spends hours and hours hand drawing each line with hot wax (a traditional form of textile work called Batik) then dyes the piece and boils the fabric to remove any wax. This leaves behind a beautiful pattern. 🙂

Otuu Ogobuchi Idam is a Nigerian textile entrepreneur whose passion for indigenous African tapestry tie dye and batik has grown into professionalism in textile and surface design. His batik works are mostly conceptualized with masks and animal motif. His areas of expertise includes, fabric construction and designing, weaving, fabric colouration and development as it concerns tie dye and batik. He has a degree in Fine and applied arts(Textile section) from the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo and hails from Afikpo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
